What are Biorhythms

Biorhythms are internal cycles, based on your personal point of entry into the world of form. Your unique pattern of biological cycles can give insight into times of exceptional capability, physical stamina, and charisma, as well as times of extraordinary stress and low frustration tolerance.
There are 3 main cycles – the physical cycle (23 days), the emotional cycle (28 days), and the intellectual cycle (33 days). The 4th cycle, most recently understood as an influence, is the intuitive cycle (38 days). These 4 taken as a whole make the most sense to Esmeralda, corresponding with the 4 psychological functions identified by Carl Jung as sensation, feeling, thinking and intuition.
Biorhythms have positive and negative polarity depending on their relationship to the baseline. If you look at the graph of your monthly chart you’ll see the baseline in the middle. When a cycle is below the baseline on the graph, your energies are functioning in a more personal, internal way. When the curve shows above the baseline, achievement and ease in the world of form flows more smoothly. The 3 days in the middle, as the baseline is being crossed, have been noted as critical days. The transition in the flow from internal to external is a sensitive time in the cycle, a time when we are more vulnerable to frustrations, accidents, hot tempers, and potential failure.

Interpreting Biorhythms

When your physical and mental cycles are both above the baseline, for example, you may find your stamina, ambition, and powers of concentration are functioning at a high level. This would be a time for closing deals, running races, being proactive in the world of form. Carpe Diem, Darlings!
When your emotional and mental cycles are in the higher ranges – schedule that difficult talk with a friend, start that creative project, ask for that raise.
Are your emotional and intuitive cycles high? How about that romantic evening, or that blind date you’ve been putting off (you’ll know quickly if there’s any point), or again, many creative and social projects go well at these times.
How about the times when 2 or 3 lines are below the midline? Now is the time to meditate, write letters, look through those old mementoes, take long walks in the woods, have intimate conversations with dear friends, clean out that closet, or read a Jane Austen novel.
Are 2 or more lines crossing the baseline? Avoid difficult decisions, encounters or physical challenges during those 3 days.

Re-Visioning Biorhythms

Now Seekers, you will read much information on this subject which will insist that cycles below the baseline are negative and problematic. Not so! That concept, Dear Ones, is based on the idea that only the external world is of importance. We live in a culture where achievement and measurable success are the only standards by which people mark their progress in life. In fact we all have internal lives, deeply important and valuable to the individual, filled with our creative imagination, spirituality, deeply held desires, sparks of genius, cherished loves, hopes, etc. This rich fountain of non-linear, non-productive, non-rational function is the wellspring of all expressions of dynamism, creativity, and true genius. Learning to recognize and cherish this side of our individual natures will add balance and humanity to our insatiable and often crazy world, energies which it sorely needs if it is to nourish us in the millennium to come. Esmeralda believes it is a wise person who chooses to anticipate and cultivate these blessed, internal phases of the cycle as well as the dynamic, outwardly productive times.
